Outline India is a research and M&E firm focusing on data collection and geared towards evidence-based decision-making. We are committed to strengthening the design of programs and interventions by conducting needs assessments, formative research, and monitoring and evaluation studies. In the last 9 years, we have worked on over 150+ evaluations in 26 states and union territories, over 15,000+ villages, representing 5 million+ stakeholders across India and abroad. We have recently commenced operations in certain parts of South Asia.

Job Description

Outline India provides solutions for implementing high-quality, authentic field surveys across India. We have previously worked in 23 states for projects on WASH, education, health, gender, etc. By following a rigorous methodology with quality checks at each stage of the data collection process, the Field Manager is required to ensure accuracy and smooth completion of all data collection activities.

Responsibilities

● Fieldwork and field planning.

● Project Coordination with field staff and research team about logistics, bill filings, and payments.

● Checking and approving transcription/translation and coordinating with external vendors.

● Draft research protocol documents and guidelines.

● Drafting project invoices, EOIs, and proposals including formatting documents.

● Assisting with data cleaning and analysis.

● Work on field reports.

● Conducting training for field enumerators and supervisors.

● PR activities of the company – coordinating with the clients, attending seminars or workshops.

● Guiding and supervising Field Associates and managing field teams across the country.

● Writing blogs about projects and research.


Qualifications

● Essential:

○ Post-Graduate in Social Sciences or Graduate with extensive field experience.

○ Proficiency in Hindi.

● Desired:

○ Strong on-field experience in India.

○ Knowledge of the Indian development sector.

○ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

○ Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

○ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

○ Proficiency in any regional Indian language.

○ Candidates with Masters in Social Work and fieldwork experience will be preferred.

Job Description

Reporting and working closely with the team at Outline India, the quantitative researcher will be engaging primarily in enforcing quantitative methodologies and implementing survey tools on digital platforms, training field teams, and ensuring field surveys are planned and implemented in a structured manner.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal

● Secondary research and sampling for proposals.

● Planning and budgeting for field surveys.

Fieldwork planning and execution

● Developing, coding, and deploying survey tools using CAPI programs like Survey CTO.

● Review of survey tools received from clients and translation of the same.

● Assist the research team in developing training material for the field team.

       o Travel to the field for the purpose of training and monitoring fieldwork (on hold during covid19).

       o Training field team on the usage of CAPI on tablets (virtual during covid19).

● Coordination with the field team to ensure quality data checks.

Data checks and analysis

● Management and monitoring of datasets on a regular basis.

      o Oversee daily data collection activities and ensure adherence to data quality protocols.

● Data cleaning.

● Quantitative analysis and visualization.

● Assist in writing reports.



Qualifications

Essential:

●Strong knowledge of quantitative methods of data collection and the ability to analyze data.

●Experience in working with STATA & Python is mandatory.

    o Familiarity with Quantitative software packages (e.g. STATA/SPSS/Python/ R).

●Master's Degree in Economics or a related field.

●Fluency in English and Hindi (knowledge of any other regional language will be valuable).

●Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired:

●3 years (and upwards) of experience in quantitative studies.

●Experience in the development sector.

●Candidates having prior fieldwork experience will be given preference.

●Professional experience in M&E in project-based settings.

●Experience in working with National/ International NGOs/ UN Bodies/Government/start-ups will be valued.

●Demonstrated experience in using digital data collection platforms and in cleaning datasets.
